DESCRIPTION:March 9\, 2024 \n5:30 PM \nWenatchee Convention Center \nTickets $125 per person \n \n\nAn evening guaranteed to be filled with laughs\, fun\, and raising money for our community!  \n\nHow it works: We will raise the paddle to raise funds for Sage Advocacy Center.  The net proceeds from the event will benefit Wenatchee Rotary scholarships and community outreach grants.   You can make additional donations to either organization! \n\nSage Advocacy Center began as an initiative in 1977 led by a group of volunteers from the Wenatchee Police Department (WPD). The Wenatchee Police Department recognized the need for community support for victims of sexual assault. The agency started with a 24-hour crisis line and advocacy services staffed by volunteers to serve Chelan and Douglas counties.\n\n\nIn 1978\, domestic violence services were added to the agency’s offerings\, and it was issued 501 C (3) status and named the Wenatchee Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence Center. A food and clothing bank was added to its services\, and in 1990\, our emergency shelter program was established. Offering temporary housing to women and children fleeing domestic violence. \n​In 2006\, the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) was established. Sage Advocacy Center partnered with all four Law Enforcement jurisdictions\, Prosecutors Offices\, and CPS to offer forensic interviews and support for children who may have suffered abuse alongside their non-offending caregivers. To support these children in forensic interviews and in court\, we brought on our court facilitator dog\, Hank\, who continues to serve our community. \n​Sage Advocacy Center offers wrap-around support services to our clients at no cost. These services include traditional advocacy\, legal advocacy\, and medical advocacy. We have also had therapy and support groups\, and regularly host free legal clinics.  Every year we serve several hundreds of adult survivors of domestic violence\, sexual assault\, and other crimes. \n​Sage Advocacy Center offers these important services for free to victims of all ages\, sexes\, nationalities\, ethnicities\, socioeconomic status\, race\, and religion and does not discriminate. \nSAGE Advocacy Center will receive funds raised through “Raise the Paddle” on the night of the event.  \n\n\n\n\nFounded in 1980\, the Wenatchee Rotary Foundation’s (WRF) mission is to improve educational opportunities for residents living in the Greater Wenatchee area. Funding for the WRF is through immediate and deferred giving from current and past Wenatchee Rotary Club members and others in the community. \nCommunity Outreach Grants are awarded through an application process each spring.  Past recipients of Wenatchee Rotary Community Outreach Grants are: \n\nKnights Kupboard at Wenatchee Valley College\nClassroom Grants through the Educational Service District Foundation\nScholarships for Camp Zanika and YMCA\n\nNet Proceeds from the event will be disbursed to these two organizations.
